If You Need A Spanking Get It From God

We all know that when we get into trouble (especially if it’s our fault) we can be expecting a beating. From Mom, Dad, Spouse Yes. Your spouse also. Maybe not literally a beating but you will be able to cut the tension with a knife.

Normally the reason why we get into trouble in the first place is because we strayed and disobeyed. Disobeyed a direct command or just thinking ‘they’re making it out to be such a big deal, when it’s not.”

Does this ring a bell with the Bible? Israel constantly in some form or the other disobeyed whether it was intentionally or not. In fact sometimes they gave up on God all together and decided to worship another false entity.

From what you remember of Israel’s roller-coaster ride with God: when God had to give them a beating He really didn’t hold back. He really let them have it; placing them under the mercy of other nations, them experiencing what it’s like to not have the freedom that God gave to them. So you may be wondering: How can getting a beating from God be GOOD?

Check this out

“Come , and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn , and he will heal us; he hath smitten , and he will bind us up.” Hosea 6:1

This is the reason why God is so magnificent! If you do come back to Him, you see your faults, you recognize “Man I’m in a lot of trouble here.” What does He do? Yes. He does chasten (and it’s not cotton candy) but then what does he do afterwards? He heals us, He binds us up.

How many people would have the ability to completely break you down and then be able to build you up again? How many human beings can fracture a soul and be able to make that soul be brand new as if it has never been broken? No one can. Only God can. Simply because He is God.

And usually during these moments of complete honesty with God, about your sins or just asking Him to make you a better person, you find that He makes things appear really dire. Everyone around you, who are seeing your calamity, kind of sees you as an outcast neglected of God.

Ladies and Gentlemen know this, when you feel like you’re being ripped apart by God know that He is doing it so that He can heal and restore you. When He does heal and restore, you will never be the same again. Essentially He is wanting you to be like Him and that means some level of chastening; hurtful truths about who you are will be coming out like boils and hives. Yet rejoice! Because at the end of that road you would be so renewed that it will be as if it never happened.

For this New Year let it be filled with healing, building and restoration. Let God’s work of redeeming us back to the state He intended us to be, be one step closer this year. Let His perfect work be done in us that we may be perfect and entire.

“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3

Go on say something...you know you want to!
